    Feasibility of Simultaneous Information and Energy Transfer in LTE-A Small Cell Networks

    Simultaneous information and energy transfer is attracting much attention as an effective method to provide green energy supply for mobiles. However the very low power level of the harvested energy from RF spectrum limits the application of such technique. Thanks to the improvement of sensitivity and efficiency of RF energy harvesting circuit as well as the dense deployment of small cells base stations, the SIET becomes more practical. In this paper, we propose a unified receiver model for SIET in LTE-A small cell base staion networks, formulate the feasibility problem with Poisson point process model and analysis the feasibility for a special and practical senario. The results shows that it is feasible for mobiles to charge the secondary battery wih harvested energy from BSs, but it is still infeasible to directly charge the primary battery or operate without any battery at all

    Gastro-protective actions of Aloe barbadensis Miller mitigate ethanol-induced gastric injury in rats

    Purpose: To investigate the gastroprotective effect of leaf extract of Aloe barbadensis on ethanolinduced gastric ulcer in rats.Methods: Healthy male Wistar rats (n = 30) weighing 180 - 220 g (mean weight = 200 ± 20 g) were randomly assigned to 6 groups (5 rats/group): control group, gastric ulcer group, two Aloe barbadensis extract groups (250 and 500 mg/kg), cimetidine group and indomethacin group. Gastric ulcer was induced via oral injection of absolute ethanol at a dose of 1 mL/kg after a 24-h fast. Gross evaluation, determination of gastric juice acidity and histological examination of gastric tissue were carried out.Results: Treatment of gastric ulcer rats with Aloe barbadensis extract significantly reduced ulcerated area (UA), ulcer index (UI), and acidity of gastric juice (p < 0.05). Injection of 1 % carrageenan into rat hind paw led to a time-dependent increase in paw volume which peaked 3 h after injection. However, the Aloe barbadensis extract significantly and dose-dependently reduced the volume of inflamed paw, and inhibited edema formation (p < 0.05). It also markedly reduced or completely eliminated edema and leucocyte infiltration. Moreover, treatment of gastric ulcer rats with Aloe barbadensis leaf extract led to significant and dose-dependent reduction in gastric tissue MDA level (p < 0.05). Histological examination of the gastric wall showed that control rats had severe injury in gastric mucosa,accompanied by edema and leucocytes infiltration, relative to rats pretreated with extract which showed marked gastric protection and inhibition of edema and leucocytes infiltration. Moreover, the extract treatment protected the gastric surface against ulceration as indicated by reduced lesions in the treated rat model.Conclusion: These results show that Aloe barbadensis mitigates ethanol-induced gastric injury in rats via inhibition of lipid  peroxidation and inflammation. Thus, the extract has potentials for development into a therapeutic agent for the management of  gastric ulcer.     Effects of morphological traits on living body weight of wild Cyclina sinensis in different geographical populations

    Eleven coastal geographical populations of wild Cyclina sinensis in China were collected in February 2020, and the effects of four morphological traits (shell length; shell height; shell width; external ligament length) on one weight trait (living body weight) were studied by correlation analysis, path analysis, determination coefficient analysis, and regression analyses. The statistical results showed that the coefficient of body weight variation was generally greater than morphological traits(P<0.05). The correlation analysis results showed that the coefficient of correlation between morphological traits (except for external ligament length) and body weight are significantly positive (P<0.05) in all populations. Based on the results of path analysis and determination coefficient analysis, shell length has the greatest direct effect on body weight in the Yancheng population; shell height has the greatest direct effect on body weight in Dandong, Fuzhou and Tangshan populations; shell width has the greatest direct effect on body weight in Zhanjiang, Wenzhou, Dongtai, Ningbo, Tianjin, Dongying, and Wanning populations. Multiple regression equations were obtained with body weight as the dependent variable, shell length, height, and width and external ligament length as independent variables. The results of systematic clustering showed that there are no apparent geographical differentiation characteristics among eleven geographical populations in morphology. This study provided a scientific basis for selective and genetic breeding and can guide the development and utilization of wild C. sinensis seed resources

    Efficient isolation of high quality RNA from tropical palms for RNA-seq analysis

    Currently, RNA-seq as a high throughput technology is being widely applied to various species to elucidate the complexity of the transcriptome and to discover large number of novel genes. However, the technology has had poor success in elucidating the transcriptome of tropical palms, as it is difficult to isolate high quality RNA from tropical palm tissues due to their high polysaccharide and polyphenol content. Here, we developed an RNA-isolation protocol for tropical palms, the MRIP method (Methods for RNA Isolation from Palms). The integrity of the RNA molecules extracted using this protocol was determined to be of high quality by means of gel electrophoresis and Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer microfluidic electrophoresis chip examination with a RIN (RNA Integrity Number) value of more than 9, indicating that the mRNAs were of good integrity. Subsequently the isolated RNA was used for transcription analysis without further purification. With Illumina sequencing, we obtained 54.9 million short reads and then conducted de novo assembly to gain 57,304 unigenes with an average length of 752 base pairs. Moreover, the RNA isolated with this protocol was also successfully used for real-time RT-PCR. These results suggested that the RNA isolated was suitable for Illumina RNA sequencing and quantitative real-time RT-PCR.     microRNA-29a-3p, Up-Regulated in Human Gastric Cells and Tissues with H.Pylori Infection, Promotes the Migration of GES-1 Cells via A20-Mediated EMT Pathway

    Background/Aims: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is closely related to human gastric mucosa-associated diseases. Several recent studies on miRNAs have expanded our insights on H.pylori pathogenesis. This study aimed to investigate the biological roles and underlying molecular mechanisms of miR-29a-3p in human gastric cells and tissues with H.pylori infection. Methods: miR-29a-3p expression was quantified by quantitative RT-PCR (qRT-PCR). A miR-29a-3p target gene was validated by bioinformatics analysis, western blotting and dual luciferase reporter gene assays. Western blotting and immunohistochemistry (IHC) assay were performed to detect the protein expression. Transwell assay was used to determine the cell migration ability. Results: MiR-29a-3p was up-regulated in H.pylori-positive gastric mucosa tissues and H.pylori-infected gastric cells. The up-regulation of miR-29a-3p was dose-dependent in BGC-823 and GES-1 cells infected with H.pylori. Using gain- and loss-of-function experiments in vitro, we demonstrated that miR-29a-3p promoted the migration of gastric epithelial cells. We further characterized A20 as a direct target of miR-29a-3p. The expression of A20 was decreased in H.pylori-positive gastric mucosa tissues compared with H.pylori-negative gastric mucosa tissues. A20 downregulation was time- and dose-dependent in GES-1 and BGC-823 cells infected with H.pylori. In GES-1 and BGC-823 cells infected with H.pylori, the miR-29a-3p mimic significantly blocked A20 expression, which suggests that H.pylori decreased A20 expression through up-regulating miR-29a-3p in GES-1 and BGC-823 cells infected with H.pylori. The knockdown of A20 by siRNA enhanced the migration of human gastric epithelial cells and promoted the expression of Snail, Vimentin, and N-cadherin and inhibited the expression of E-cadherin. Conclusion: The miR-29a-3p may act as a tumor promotive miRNA by regulating cells migration through directly targeting of A20 gene in human gastric epithelial cells infected with H.pylori

In this paper, with Bayesian rules, we design an IT service outsourcing model under the framework of the principal-agent in order to analyse the effects of the quality of information gathered by principal on optimal contract and expected payoff to him and discuss the strategic problem how principal uses these high-quality information.
